The success story of the John Deere combine harvester started in 1927 with their first model which came onto the market with the name ‘No. 2’. A year later they introduced a smaller model with the name ‘No. 1’. In spite of the worldwide financial crisis of the 30s the American concern managed to earn a good reputation and a loyal customer base. From the beginning on John Deere paid particular attention to qualitatively high-class harvest technology. They say themselves that they do not only want to meet the expectations in the area but want to exceed the expectations. The AutoTec technology allows the worker to remain entirely relaxed during the harvest as this technology enables the harvester to complete the work autonomously according to a previously defined work-plan. All machinery is produced in the main factory in Zweibrücken. This manufacturing plant formerly belonged to Lanz AG and was taken over by John Deere in 1956. This take-over allowed John Deere to enter the European market. Today, John Deere has combine harvesters on the market which are divided into 5 series. The 1070-, W-, T-, C- and S-series are sorted from the former to the latter according to their performance. Whilst the 1070-series is comprised of machinery which is appropriate for medium-sized businesses, the S-series is distinctly made for large agricultural service supply agencies. With a cutting width of up to 9.15, the John Deere combine harvesters belong to the most effective machines worldwide.
